The Placement Cell aims to create meaningful opportunities for students by engaging with recruiters from sectors including design studios, technology and media companies, craft and lifestyle brands, manufacturing industries, social enterprises, NGOs, and emerging startups. Alongside placements, the cell also supports students through portfolio development sessions, resume guidance, mock interviews, and career-oriented workshops.
Key activities organized by the Placement Cell include campus recruitment drives, internship facilitation, portfolio reviews, industry interactions, expert talks, and networking initiatives that encourage dialogue between academia and industry.
At NID Assam, placements are viewed not only as employment opportunities but also as long-term collaborations between young creative professionals and organizations shaping the future of design, culture, and innovation. The institute remains committed to nurturing responsible, skilled, and socially conscious designers who can contribute meaningfully across industries and communities.

Dr. J. P. Sampath Kumar
Director, NID Assam.
At NID Assam, the design education is not just about learning skills, but about nurturing creativity, problem-solving, and a sense of responsibility toward society and industry. We believe that design has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and create sustainable solutions for the future. Our students are trained to think critically, innovate with empathy, and adapt to the evolving needs of global industries.
As we look forward to the placement and internship season, I take great pride in inviting companies, organizations, and studios to engage with our talented pool of designers. They represent the next generation of thinkers and doers who will contribute meaningfully to diverse domains of design practice.
Our institute offers three major disciplines of design:
- Communication Design – where students bring ideas to life through visual storytelling, digital media, branding, UI/UX, film, and animation.
- Industrial Design – where creativity meets functionality to develop products, systems, and experiences that are user-centred, sustainable, and innovative.
- Textile and Apparel Design – where tradition meets technology, with students creating fashion and textile solutions that balance aesthetics, functionality, and cultural identity.
We are confident that our students, through their rigorous education and hands-on projects, are industry-ready and prepared to contribute fresh perspectives to your organizations. Internships and placements are not only opportunities for our students to apply their learning but also provide valuable avenues for industry partners to engage with young talent who can bring creativity, innovation, and design-led thinking into their teams.
I warmly welcome you to partner with us in shaping the future of design by offering opportunities to our students. Together, we can foster a culture of collaboration and innovation that will positively impact industries, society, and the world at large.
Warm Regards!
