Prof. J. P. Sampath Kumar completed PhD from IIT, Delhi in textile technology and has a work experience of over 33 years in various fields. His thesis involves the use of natural fibres like jute and coir to braid them in a tubular fabric for application in civil engineering. His contributions towards nation building in the field of textiles, apparels and design are worth mentioning.
He has published several papers in international and national journals and in conferences. He has also published eight Indian patents on which he is working for commercialization of them for the betterment of the society at large.
He has developed more than 40 modules for the Ministry of Labour towards skill development training, which are being followed by many textile and apparel industries helping them in contributing towards production and economy of the nation.
He has worked in many engineering and design institutes in India and has been developing curriculum and has potential to develop curriculum as per NEP in these institutes benefitting the students in learning not only the basics but in adapting the latest technology to serve the industries at large.
He has developed a patented handloom which can increase the production of handloom fabrics by 80% in the form of producing two fabrics in one single operation and can help one sector of handloom weavers in India to enhance their income level.
Being in the educational field, he has trained so many people from level 1 to level 7 as per NSDC and is continuing to help the universities in India.
His research in the fields of agriculture and health sectors can help many farmers and patients respectively, through development of new products.
