Who owns the project outcome?
The ownership of project outcomes, deliverables, intellectual property, and related rights is generally determined through mutual agreement between the sponsoring organization, the student, and NID Assam prior to the commencement of the Graduation Project. Organizations with specific intellectual property requirements are encouraged to discuss these aspects at the project initiation stage to ensure clarity and alignment among all stakeholders.
Can projects be confidential?
Yes. Organizations may propose projects involving confidential information, proprietary research, or sensitive business challenges. In such cases, appropriate confidentiality measures, including Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), may be considered and implemented in accordance with institutional policies and mutual agreement between the concerned parties.
Can organizations provide stipends?
Yes. Organizations are encouraged to provide stipends, project support, or other forms of assistance to students undertaking Graduation Projects. While stipend provisions may vary depending on the nature and scope of the project, such support helps facilitate meaningful industry engagement and professional learning experiences for students.
How are students selected?
Students are allocated to Graduation Projects based on multiple factors, including project requirements, disciplinary expertise, academic preparedness, areas of interest, and organizational expectations. Depending on the sponsoring organization's preference, the selection process may involve portfolio reviews, interviews, project presentations, or other evaluation methods coordinated through the Training & Placement Cell.

Graduation projects are typically undertaken during the final semester of the academic programme and generally extend over a period of approximately four to six months. The exact duration may vary based on the academic calendar, project scope, and specific requirements of the sponsoring organization.
What types of organizations can sponsor a Graduation Project?
Graduation Projects may be hosted by a wide range of organizations, including design consultancies, startups, corporations, manufacturing companies, technology firms, fashion and lifestyle brands, social enterprises, government agencies, NGOs, research institutions, and craft-sector organizations. The project should provide meaningful design engagement and learning opportunities aligned with the student's discipline and educational objectives.
How will the organization interact with the student during the project?
